It is always great traveling with Intrepid.
This is feedback for YOU . .probably no for the website. I would have like a little less overview and more time to visit some of the places we just walked by. I think our group bonded well, so we all kept together, but I found I didn’t have time to go back out (after the overiew) to see as many places as I would like. THis was a minor issue.
Intrepid travel is amazing. As a solo traveller, it was a great way to see a country with a local leader. Highly recommend the food and wine tours.
We enjoyed our time in Portugal and the Food and Wine Tour with only twelve participants and its variety of experiences made it a memorable holiday.
A perfect itinerary for the available days. A nice balance of guided time and independent time. accomodation everywhere was great considering the tour price and the destination prices (Except for Lisbon) We were very fortunate to have a brilliant Tour Leader in Elina Zusevica. She made any problem disappear with a smile and thoughtfulness ! Highly recommended. Take good walking shoes!
This tour provides a great experience in Galicia and Portugal. The transport arrangements take the hassle and worry out of travelling and the inclusions are a great way to be introduced to the food and wine culture.
If you like stunning natural landscapes, walking in nature, fabulous city sights, fine food & wine, and a relaxed-pace holiday this a wonderful trip! Porto and Lisbon introduce you to Portugal, and the islands of the Azores are stunning. It’s ok to bring a suitcase up to 23kg too.
Intrepid offers a range of trips to suit different levels. Do your homework and pick one that is right for your level of fitness and your specific interests.
I really enjoyed my time with Intrepid. Everyday there was something that happened that was unexpected for example the “Tunas” in Porto to the tinned fish tasting in Lisbon. The group was a good mix of personalities from a different countries. The tour leader was always bright and cheery and keen to help each one of us if we needed it. I will be recommending Intrepid to friends and family and hope to go on another tour soon.
We have always enjoyed travelling with Intrepid. Small group tours are the way to go because you can engage well with all the fellow travellers, it is easy to do things together and it is acceptable to do things by yourself. I like that the trips are relativley low impact from an ecological perspective and go to interesting places.
Small group travel with like minded people. Travel light as there are lots of stairs to lift suitcases up and down. Wear solid supportive, non slip walking shoes as the cobble stones are everywhere
The food tour of Portugal is a wonderful way to learn the culture , cuisine and regions of Portugal. I would recommend it to anyone who loves seafood, wine and good company.
Great trip to beautiful Spain and Portugal with a nice balance between planned activities and free time to explore on your own or with your new friends. There is so much to see and experience and Intrepid provides the opportunity to do this in a safe and fun way.
If possible, plan to allot one extra day for Santiago de Compostela, the capital of northwest Spains Galicia region, known as the culmination of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route.
Nice combination of city and farm experience. Good opportunity to see the countryside. Need to pack lightly due to minimal hotel and elevator services
This trip combines an informative visit to Porto and Lisbon with a detailed exploration of the Azores,I would recommend leaving time after to further explore those wonderful cities. The Azores were stunning and oh so different
A great trip for travellers keen on exploring different cities and experiencing culture up close. Lots of great activities and plenty of free time to explore at your own leisure.
This tour is a great way to experience a lot of Spain and Portugal without the hassle of worrying about transport. Local transport was comfortable airconditioned coaches which gave you a few hours rest between destinations.
As a whole, Intrepid is a great way to travel; the guides are excellent, the ability to immerse yourself in another culture is encouraged and accessible, and it’s a great value for the money!
A fun romp through Spain and Portugal. Good food, great wine, flamenco!, tapas!, fado! and great company. Our guide, Irene, did a wonderful job herding us cats.
This was a fantastic trip, with a good itinerary, great food and a very knowledgeable and charismatic group leader (Nestor). I particularly enjoyed the cooking class and the farm stay. I would definitely recommend this trip!
Intrepid is a great way to travel if you want to really experience your destination & be amongst the local culture. The guides we have experienced as being very welcoming, knowledgeable & generally good fun. Its good value & a great way to meet others.
The trip itinerary was great and our tour leader was very helpful & informative. My only criticism is the time wasted on transport to get to a destination i.e cabs from accomodation to a bus station, bus that doesn’t go direct that calls at various other stops & finally cabs to destination accomodation.
Traveling with Intrepid was an amazing experience. They took care of all of the logistics and I got to experience Spain and Portugal like a local. I will absolutely be booking another intrepid trip in the future!
Get Juan Sanchez as your tour director if you can – he’s amazing!
I would say that the overall experience was a good one to get a good overview of SpaIn and Portugal. I would have liked to spend a bit more time in a couple of the Cities that we visited. Travel between locations did take up a lot of time. This is not a problem with Intrepid, it is just a fact that when you are covering a lot of ground it take time to get from place to place.
Intrepid provided an umbrella of management over our recent family vacation to Spain and Portugal that would have been difficult to achieve without their help. We enjoyed having adequate free time to explore on our own, after being given a nice overview and orientation upon arrival in each location. The tour guide was TOP NOTCH, even managing an unexpected medical emergency with care, compassion and clear-thinking. This was our first trip with Intrepid, but it will NOT be our last!
Fantastic look at Portuguese culture and cuisine, good mix of free time and included activities. Fell in love with the hotel in Porto as well as the city itself.
This trip of Spain and Portugal was excellent but we ran out of time with a few attractions Looking back my be i tried to do too much A little more research and concentrate on what is important to you
Excellent experience. Great value.
The perfect way to explore Spain & Portugal for the first time if youre limited in your time.
This was a great trip covering a range of cities, nature, history/culture and food. We packed in a lot in the two weeks and the tour guide was great with his local knowledge and good sense of humour. There is a lot of travel on public transport so pack lightly and be prepared to carry your own bags up and down a lot of stairs. I had an amazing time getting under the skin of Spain and Portugal and made some lovely friends along the way.
A fun filled 15 days with a good group of new friends!
Spain and Portugal are places that are a must see. Go in the latter half of the summer season as the crowds and heat will not be so bad. Be prepared for lots of walking so fitness is priority. Travel off the beaten tracks on your free time and experience the wonders of this world.
Read the trip notes beforehand, take note of Baggage recommendations and understand the type of travel you are about to undertake. Intrepid trips are unique.
Great trip that provided a full day of free time (usually the next day after arrival) at each place visited. There wasnt long driving days and the schedule was easy to cope with. Both Spain and Portugal were both fabulous countries to visit and the length of this trip gave time enough to explore, sight see, shop, eat and drink I do recommend extra days in both Madrid and Barcelona pre/post trip to take in the sights of these great cities.. stay anywhere in close proximity to a metro and you cant go wrong. Cheaper accommodation in Barcelona is easily accessed out of the centre on the metro
Loved this intensive trip of Galicia food and wine for a very good price. Amazing seafood, ham, cheese , olives red wine , vino verde and of course port. What more could you want ? Also enough walking to burn some of it off !!!!!
Spain and Portugal have so much to offer to the traveler– great art, architecture, food, music… This trip allows enough time to hit some major highlights (be sure to add days for Madrid and Barcelona on either end) and to enjoy personal wanderings as well. Kudos to our leader, Giulia, for enhancing the experience.
If you are looking for outstanding travel experiences and enjoy meeting new people to share these adventures with then Intrepid Travel is the company for you. Trips allow plenty of free time for you to explore new places with Intrepid making every effort to utilise local guides and provide memorable travel experiences.
Intrepid provided a wonderful travel experience to Spain and Portugal. We learnt a lot about Spanish and Portuguese culture and history; were stimulated by and enjoyed the camaraderie of a great group of fellow travellers and were led and supported by an outstanding tour leader.
An excellent snapshot tour of Spain and Portugal that moved at a good pace
A great snap shot of spain and portugal
This food tour was an experience of a lifetime. A wonderful way to learn about a country’s history and culture all through the lenses of food and beverage. A dream!
Fantastic tour; especially for those of you that love seafood! The itinerary is a great mix of busy cities and rural stays, and you get a real sense of how big a role food and drink play in this part of the world. So much fun and highly recommended.
A great active all round holiday. There is so much to see and do in the Azores and the volcanic scenery is beautiful. Highlights for us included swimming with dolphins, a visit to a lava tube cave and the daily included lunches which enabled us to try local dishes.
My first food tour with Intepid was thoroughly enjoyable! This trip will have you eating & sipping your way through some of the most picturesque places in Portugal! With the focus on food there was still plenty of time for cultural activities. Foodies this tour is for you!
Delicious introduction into Portugese food, drink and culture, brilliant included activities and perfectly paced trip!
This was our first tour of any kind, but it won’t be our last! We had an amazing experience and will definitely book with Intrepid Travel again soon. The itinerary was amazing and a great value for the experiences we had. Our guide Daniel was outstanding and made everything even better!
This was a fantastic trip. A lot of walking and eating and drinking, but that’s what to expect with a food and wine tour. An unexpected bright side is I only gained one pound!
This was a fabulous food tour. We were lucky to be part of a great group of people with a brilliant leader, Daniel, enjoying an amazing country, Portugal. We did lots of eating, drinking, laughing and learning. It is very difficult to select a highlight of the trip as there were so many great moments. The transport, accommodation and activities were all very good. I would strongly recommend this trip to anyone.
Santiago, Porto and Lisbon were wonderful places to visit and made more authentic by being educated about the local cuisine in each area. The cooking course in Vigo was a stand out – great food and location. Also the farm stay was a relaxing break in a beautiful location with outdoor pool. The trip to the Douro region was also worthwhile – such beautiful scenery.
My Intrepid experience exceeded my expectations. High quality across the board.
A fantastic trip even if you don’t consider yourself a ” foodie “. Great inclusions and itenary.
