I would highly recommend Intrepid Travel to anyone interested in really experiencing a country/culture. There was a great mix of visiting landmarks (bucket list items) and interaction with local people. The trip far exceeded my expectations. The small tour group size provided an opportunity to get to know my travel companions which also enhanced the experience. I will definitely travel with Intrepid again!
Machu Picchu lives up to the hype, and we found the altitude to be manageable. Decide where on Machu Picchu you want to go ahead of time (Sun Gate or Inca Bridge), there’s not much free time for you to explore after the tour. If you have an extra day in Lima, check out the Larco Museum and the Barranco District. If you’re going in the southern hemisphere’s winter, be prepared for it to be very, very cold and bring lots of layers.
Classic Peru for Solo Travelers really packs a lot into 9 days. The itinerary was well thought out and reasonably paced. Our guide, Ale, was terrific. The accommodations were all quite acceptable, never fancy, but always clean and comfortable and usually quirky in a cool way. The food in Peru was superb!
Very good size of groups, with mixed ages and profile, which made the trip very interesting. Intrepid seems like a responsible and sustainable company and all the staff involved were great.
If you would like to see Peru in a short period of time, this is the ideal trip. It covers a lot and it can be quite tiring, but it was all worth it. The tour guide is very knowledgeable and do a great job of taking care of the people on the tour. I was quite nervous about travelling to South America for the first time and this tour is great if you are in a similar situation. Cannot recommend highly enough.
A window into Andean people, culture and way of life that leaves an indelible impression.
Brilliant way in which a solo traveller feels safe and able to see some amazing sights with company of people/ friends from all over the world. I have made friends for life!
See the world through the eyes of locals.
