we did things and saw that we could not have done on our own. There are real benefits in group travel (new to us). Access to information, avoidance of admin and arrangements, and seeing and doing things that would not be available on own. The other trip members were fun. The guide was excellent.
Having travelled extensively this was by far the best tour I have done. Su our guide made sure our Myanmar Experience was really an EXPERIENCE. Su was a knowledgeable and outstanding guide who made sure we left Myanmar with a greater insight into its history and culture. Also having tasted its many delights Thankyou Su
Intrepids Myanmar Comfort Tour went beyond all expectations. Our tour guides enthusiasm and effort helped to make the trip as wonderful as it was. Amazing trip, great accommodation and variety of experiences and local culture. I would recommend visiting amazing Myanmar and its beautiful people!
We had a wonderful, but far too short, time in Myanmar and would love to go back. We were extremely fortunate to have the guide we did as she (Lae) was just perfect; informative, warm, friendly, funny, generous, social and organised. The people of Myanmar won our hearts completely with their warmth and generosity. They are suffering presently from the effects of local and international politics and desperately need us to visit their beautiful country and behave in a responsible way by treating them with respect and adding to the local economy. I would recommend Myanmar to any traveler who would open their heart to this wonderful country.
See Myanmar now while it is still unspoiled! Spend a day cycling to temples built over 700 years ago, see how boats, paper, cigars are all made by hand. Hike past tea plantations and orange groves and smelly the heady scent of lemongrass. Dine on the many fresh, organic fruits and vegetables readily available. Wander through the many street markets selling items both familiar and unfamiliar. Come and see for yourself what makes this wonderful country so unique!
Myanmar is a very poor country but the people are lovely. The Community Lodge was great but was hot in April. Enjoyed visiting the village people. I was disappointed in Bagan as it didn’t look at all like the brochures probably due to earthquakes in 1975 and 2016 where thousands of temples were destroyed.
This was an excellent tour. The only improvement (which could not have been done due to the dry season) would have been to have the boat ride instead of the bus ride.
I like the fact that this is a small tour group with always a very helpful and friendly guide.
Intrepid allows travelers to visit exotic and hard to access places with knowledgeable guides and busy itineraries. There is no way a person could see and do as much on his own in the time allotted. Intrepid offers a wonderful way to travel and an opportunity to do it in comfort in the company of like-minded tourists.
This trip was a great experience and there was a lot of interaction with the local people. The tour guide Thant was excellent with his knowledge and suggestions on the trip. Myanmar felt very safe at all times and the locals are very friendly
Myanmar Intrepid with Alex was a an amazing experience, the trip exceeded my expectations. Alex shared his local knowledge of all things cultural, historical and significant about Myanmar. Physical activities were challenging in the extreme heat but Alex was always positive, thoughtful and supportive. A trip not to be missed!!
This trip was brilliant! I didn’t want it to end! I usually travel solo and enjoy my independence, but this time I decided to do something different. One of the things I realised was that by going with a professional company and guide, I could see and learn so much more about the country than on my own. The tour was action-packed and never boring, with one beautiful surprise after another! I am very grateful. Thank you Intrepid!
Interesting and relaxed insight into Myanmar culture and tribes. Lake Inle was our favourite. Alex was a fantastic tour leader.
What a great company Intrepid is. We felt that everything was well organised and the timings perfect. There was a good balance of free and organised time. The tour guide could not have more helpful and we so enjoyed sharing his country with him for 2 weeks. Intrepid deliver what they say they will and in many ways exceeded expectations. The group was great and we enjoyed spending time with people who like us feel the world is there to be discovered and shared. We will definitely be travelling with Intrepid again.
Excellent itinerary, accommodation and transport, and the tour leader was amazing. Going in April, I thoroughly enjoyed the water festival, the warm weather was quite manageable while tourist numbers were down, for which I was very grateful. Fully recommended.
Great tour, best group, best guide ever. Learned a lot about the country and its customs. Would definitely do it again!
I on a lot of tips around Europe , Tibet, Japan , Korea, Taiwan, India , Napal ,Bhutan, Thai, around Fiji many different Tour guide but peter HTUT he very excellent really good calm
My favorite part of the trip was the other people on the trip. They made it great. And the guide encouraged our fun and independence
Intrepid is a wonderful company, and really the best possible way to see a country if you don’t have the time or inclination to plan a vacation OR you don’t know what to do but know you want to go somewhere. the guides are unbelievably competent and professional, and they know their stuff inside and out. I felt nothing but absolutely safe and the itinerary was perfect.
Myanmar is a country blessed with culture, history, pagodas, activities and the most generous, honest and kindest people I have every met. I have traveled extensively and in Myanmar all I had to do was smile at someone and they would smile back and they would gladly let me take their photo and then ask to take a photo of me. I even had a small boy ask his father if he could have a photo with me. I totally recommend this country as a MUST SEE. It is unspoiled and I love that when I visit a Pagoda it is full of local people and not just overseas tourists, so they are places where the locals also go. Much thanks must go to my guide Peter, who made this a wonderful experience.
I would highly recommend going to Myanmar. The people are very friendly and you get a real insight into how the locals live with the trip. There is plenty to see and do and also enough free time for you to take a breather if needed. Loved Bagan and Inle. Lae our guide was absolutely fantastic.
Myanmar is an absolutely fascinating place. We discovered so many new things. The trip with Intrepid was fantastic and our guide amazing. We have had the best trip ever!
Intrepid guides are great. As a traveler who has been travelling independently for over 20 years, they offer a great service. I use intrepid if Im going solo, want a slightly more comfortable trip or to somewhere where a guide is indispensable. The pacing of the trip is brilliant and designed to help you make the most of your trips. My guides have always had brilliant local knowledge and been great fun!
The 15 day Best of Myanmar Intrepid trip is an wonderful experience from start to finish. I believe the variety of places we visited was a great combination to showcase the areas included on our trip. The forms of travel were varied, well organised and comfortable. There is a great balance between organised activities and free time to explore on your own.
If you want the opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture of this beautiful country, I highly recommend this trip. The locals are so welcoming and really add to the experience, visiting the villages and staying at the community lodge was a real highlight.
Incredible trip meeting the friendly people of a beautiful, and diverse country. Great itinerary and excellent organisation.
What an excellent trip from start to finish. We got a real insight into the lives of the local people in Myanmar. It was fascinating to see. The trip had lots of activities and optional extras which I thoroughly enjoyed, cycling around the temples in Bagan, trekking the hills around Kalaw, visiting local markets and villages and seeing the fishermen at Inle Lake. It was fantastic.
A wonderful trip with unique and spectacular sites, opportunity to meet with locals and experience the culture, a highly knowledgeable and organised guide, and a great balance of inclusions and free time. The people were very friendly and I always felt safe.
A trip to Myanmar is a great experience. I liked the traditionality of the country and that there are Not so much tourists at the moment. I think its completely different that in other countries of South East Asia. Its Not so crowed and I loved it!
Do your homework! On a tour, your accommodation, etc. is organized for you. Know that the majority of the people on tour are super adventurous and passionate about the culture. You will not be alone! Enjoy every experience.
If you want to visit a land full of history, beauty and adventures, visit Myanmar. Here you will find a kind and gentle people eager to help you understand the world they live in. You will want to return again and again.
Myanmar is a country that is still coming to grips with the Western world, so don’t expect too much to be up to the standards of many other parts of the world, but you will experience some amazing places and sights with mostly very friendly local people. Do it before it becomes too commercial and “found”.
Enjoy the “Original” trips with a good balance of organized and free time with added options suggested at destinations. Interaction with the local way of life where practicable . Enjoy the walking tours and other included options such as treks, biking and occasionally canoing.
Generally a very good, well-balanced itinerary that explores all Myanmar’s key sites. I liked the fact we stayed for 2-3 nights in most locations, which meant plenty of time to get to know them, rather than constantly travelling and sleeping in a different bed every night. Myanmar is a fascinating country with warm, friendly people that has not yet succumbed to mass tourism.
This was my first ever “tour group” travel after many years of traveling . My daughter and myself enjoyed that we could focus on understanding the History , culture and the background of the people we encountered . It felt as if we had tread lightly on our path through Myanmar and still came away with an unforgettable travel experience !
I highly recommend this trip! Myanmar is an absolutely stunning place – the people, the food, the scenery! Having not been on a tour before I was blown away with the insight we received from our incredible tour guide Lin, with our amazing group of like-minded people & with the ease of the travel. I love that Intrepid takes such a responsible stance with their tours & aims to give you an authentic experience.
I was apprehensive about the quality of the food before coming out to Myanmar. However the food far exceeded my expectations! Also if you get a chance to do the bamboo delight cooking course, DO IT! It was so good!
Arrive in your destination a full day or more as generally you don’t see a lot of the starting city with Intrepid. Likewise spend another day or two at the end. Don’t bring hiking books.. you don’t need the extra luggage.. I have used Teva (Keens) every hiking trip and they have been great. Don’t pack too much.. doesn’t leave you space for all the bits and pieces you will pick up In south east Asia a small umbrella is great for both sun and rains Original have hairdryers, basic generally doesn’t Insect repellant, sunscreen, antiseptic cream are a must A battery pack is a must – preferably 10,000 – and one with a torch if you can will get you out of some sticky situations A good storage plan where you can upload photos and not lose them when you delete from camera A large light scarf that packs small into your daypack for temples Tipping isn’t hard.. even for a kiwi where tipping isn’t part of our culture.. 10%
A trip of a lifetime that was only enhanced by a superb guide, Lin. I would highly recommend to anyone! Be sure to read the trip notes before departing as it helps with your preparation and tells you exactly what to expect.
Burma is a magical country. It has all the beauty of places like Thailand but feels completely unspoilt!
an excellent holiday with a first class tour guide nothing too much trouble. Saw Burma in all its beauty, the trips are brilliant and the people so welcoming. Travel light there are plenty of laundries about, ladies be aware of covering shoulders and knees when entering religious sites. embrace the culture and enjoy.
Itinerary excellent and accurate. Allowed lots of free time. Got to see various regions of the country. Absolutely loved the tour, leader (Josh) and group!
Intrepid trips are so well organised, so thoughtful of the country you are travelling through, and mindful of the people that live there. It has been my experience that the tour leaders that Intrepid employ are absolute gems. Our tour leader for Myanmar was Naing, he showed us his country in such an informative, graceful and reverent way that we could not help but fall in love with this country and its people. Well done Intrepid!
The best of Myanmar is a hugely inspiring trip. A well-balanced itinerary means that you get to see a lot as well as have some free time or opt for extras if you want to. We went in August ‘the rainy season’- don’t let that put you off though! – It hardly rained at all and there were much fewer visiters at that time. Do read the trip notes and do ask for Joshua Mawia as your tour leader if you can! Do smile at the locals and see how they smile back at you so readily and so kindly. We had an amazing time.
A brilliant trip, made so by a wonderful itinerary, great guide and beautiful country with the locals still following age-old traditions on a daily basis.
The best of Myanmar certainly lives up to its name! An incredible experience in a truely wonderful country from beginning to end.
Intrepid tours are the perfect way to experience local without any hassle. Organisation and guidance that makes the trip run at ease. The best Group tour experience I’ve had.
Myanmar has an incredible variety of shrines and Buddha. Each one individual. Buddha can be gold, he can have fairy lights, but Buddha can also be humble. This is not just a land of shrines; Humility, beautiful people, kind people, honest and funny people. Stunning landscapes, good food, enlightening and fun.
This trip is hard to beat. See Myanmar now before it becomes touristified and jaded like other parts of SE Asia.
Highly recommend the Myanmar experience for people who are interested in an emerging tourist industry in a country that has been highly restricted for travellers in the past.
Myanmar was much better than I expected and I had an amazing travel experience thanks to an excellent tour leader, Naing, who shared his enthusiasm for his country and organised transport and meals so that the group bonded together. Take shoes that are easy to take off and on and cool clothes that cover your knees and shoulders for temple visits.
Great to get an overview about Myanmar
Myanmar has some truly magical places. It is an easy country to navigate. Go sooner than later before it is on the main tourism track
Intrepid trips are well organised and good value for money. The Myanmar Experience trip was a great introduction by a great leader to a lovely country.
Bring an open mind and remember pagoda dress!- (cover those shoulders and knees!)
Visit Myanmar now! See Myanmar before it gets to touristy. Wonderful to see the farms still using ox to plow the field, haul there vegetable in wooden wagons, herding there cows on foot. You are traveling back in time when visiting Myanmar but it won’t be this way for long as you can see the new generation wearing blue jeans compared to the traditional longi that the men and women wear. This is an active, fun adventure! Must do!!
If you are looking for a smooth, informative and fun introduction to Myanmar, don’t hesitate to book the Myanmar Experience! An amazing collection of experiences over a great swath of the country that will make you fall in love with this fascinating place. I’m still processing all of our amazing experiences, and I know these memories will last a lifetime!
Myanmar Experience is a very good trip. It combines culture and nature. Maynmar is not expensive and its pagodas are amazing. There are not yoo many tourists yet
I would highly recommend this tour it hits all the key stops to get a real feel for the country and with plenty of time in each location you are not trying to cram experiences in. Myanmar is a wonderful country to visit and the people are so nice and genuinely friendly and helpful. The food was unreal – so fresh and tasty and the cleanliness of establishments from street food providers to the local venues and more “western” looking establishments will amaze you.
Myanmar is a spectacular experience you will never see anywhere else. The friendly people and their untouched way of life makes it a special place like no other.
Myanmar is a gem which needs to be explored to be believed. And if you get joseph you can bet that the trip will start with a gem for sure!
First trip with Intrepid, wow just incredible. Fun, adventurous, active, immersed in the culture, love the small group, Enough people to meet and learn about other parts of the world and exchange travel adventures. This was a magnificent trip to enough while the country is young and not over run with tourists yet. Bagan was incredible, a must see in everyone’s lifetime.
Don’t hesitate in booking this tour- Myanmar is even more awe inspiring, friendly and fascinating than imaginable! A very well thought out itinerary that gets the balance just right and will blow you away!
An excellent tour with a perfect itinerary taking in major sights of Myanmar at a good pace. Great insight into this beautiful and amazing country! I can’t recommend this tour enough.
