As my first tour, Mexico Unplugged was outstanding. 1200kms travelled, but I never felt rushed. There was always time to immerse yourself into the local culture and explore natural marvels and ancient civilisations.
Intrepid’s Mexico Unplugged Basix allowed me to get to all the places I wanted to go in Mexico and show me some I wouldn’t have found on my own without handholding or being forced to do anything I didn’t want to do or eat a lousy meal. It was a small group that got along well and had the best tour guide (Victor) I’ve ever had on any tour ever. I would strongly recommend taking this tour. I might even do it again.
If you want to experience out of the way places with a great price point then choose intrepid.
I highly recommend intrepid as a tour group – every trip I have been on seems to get better and better along the way! Being a solo female traveller this is a great way to meet other like-minded people without the hassle of organising your own logistics. I will be booking another tour very soon!
I like the basix tours because the people who take them seem to be more laid back and from a wide range of ages and backgrounds. Make sure to check how much travel time is involved.
Mexico Unplugged was the perfect mix of culture and adventure. Thanks to the trip, I’m in love with Mexico’s culture, food, colors, music and dancing and can’t wait to return.
Mexico Unplugged is the best way to see the highlights of Mexico in a hasslefree, short and fun way. You immerse yourself in the history of the country through ancient ruins, mezcal tastings, lots of tacos and guacamole as well as meeting some amazing people on the way, fellow travellers and locals alike.
Travel to Mexico/Cuba with your eyes wide open with no expectations and in return Mexico/Cuba will provide you with an experience of a life time that you will never forget!
Fantastic tour for both single travelers and couples (we being a couple). Saw an amazing snap shot of Mexico and experienced a small taste of modern Mexico as well as learning about pre-Hispanic life in Mexico! What a fantastic and vibrant country!
Viva Mexico. Take the opportunity to spend time in this fascinating country which has so much to offer. Explore the Aztec and Mayan history and various ethnicities, enjoy the food and make sure you eat the chilli’s! You will become a tequila expert and take the opportunity to enjoy the local handicrafts.
Mexico is a vibrant country and this Intrepid Tour showcased a lot of what Mexico has to offer. I would highly recommend this trip to anybody that likes fun and food.
I have never travelled with Intrepid previously. My original booking was with Peregine. But I was very pleased with all aspects of the Intrepid experience.
Intrepid is all about passion and duty of care to travellers Ive travelled Sth America and Central America with intrepid and have found them to be more than professional and a whole lot of fun with their knowledge. I love group travel and find this is a great way of forming lifelong friendships with like minded people. Ill be back for more Intrepid trips!
Highly recommend Intrepid
the trip was just great will have it in mind always. tip would be to disregard the english restaurant menus and learn your spanish phrases because by the end you’ll be old hand at the shops bars and cafes and never feel out of place.
Great trip, paced well with some very good optional side trips. Victor our guide was excellent and also an avid foody so learned a lot about Mexican cuisine.
This trip was a fantastic introduction to Mexico – good mix of mexican culture, history and nature. Karla was an excellent, enthusiastic tour leader and the trip was well organised to allow a mix of interesting group activities and opportunities for independent exploring.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and it was a good mix of activities.
The guide was the best, he knew everything about mexico and couldnt have been nicer. Shout out to Victor!
Awesome way to get a full taste of Mexico! The culture and character of each town made me fall in love a little bit more each stop! Highly recommend this tour!
I have traveled with your youth brand; Gecko’s Adventures over 10yrs ago now in Vietnam – was pretty awesome trip!
Intrepid is about the people and the sharing of the experiences. Its fresh its local and it has a vibe about it that stands apart from other tour groups and its this, that will continue to see Intrepid succeed. As a traveler I don’t believe you an go wrong, please do yourself a favor and book the Mexico unplugged tour now with Valeria Valdivia as the tour leader its the best with the best leader.
Great trip through Mexico. Well organised and supported.
Mexico is a fantastic travel destination with so much variety of scenery and activities. Be sure to prepare for amazing swimming and snorkelling in the cenotas and the sea and bring along solid walking shoes for the various climbs and hikes!!. Read up on the History and Culture of the areas that you visit – there is such variation in the regions of Mexico so be prepared. Don’t expect Tex Mex type food. Real mexican food is different to that. It is possible to eat well as a vegetarian in Mexico although there are a lot of meat dishes. The Guacamole is the best!! So much more of the country to visit so will go east from Mexico City next time.
Mexico unplugged was a wonderful experience and a great opportunity to discover towns and sites in Mexico with a knowledgeable guide. Travelling with a small group of like minded people through Mexico with Intrepid looking after the important matters was a perfect chance to relax and enjoy the experience.
This trip takes you to beautiful historic towns in Mexico’s interior, each different from the others. The guide’s knowledge of Mexican history and willingness to share his love of Mexican food heightened the experience.
An amazing trip full of history, relaxation and great food
If traveling with intrepid the best thing is there is only 12 people and that makes it so much easier to do more things
If you want to discover Mexico in its diversity, this trip is the best option!
You must be fit as a lot of walking is involved and book a single room if you snore out of consideration for others
Friendly group .Great experiences .good company for the single traveller
Good food, good fun. Mexico at its best
I enjoyed the sites that I managed to see in Mexico but you have to be aware that the trip, despite being a comfort level, requires quite a bit of stamina and reasonable health. It only takes one wrong choice in food to spoil the trip. Im still not sure what mine was but I was being careful. Lots of happy memories were shared with a great tour group and a very enthusiastic and helpful tour guide.
Love intrepid’s philosophy on helping locals and the environment. As a solo traveller find the mix of free time and activities good, everything is well organized andguides are super helpful.
Mexico Unplugged allowed me to experience the colour, vibrancy, history and adventure Mexico has to offer. I was given the opportunity to hike in jungles, swim in gorgeous sinkholes and waterfalls, explore ancient archaelogical ruins and eat some of the tastiest food ever. Thank you Mexico!
Our first Intrepid trip was fantastic! Full of exciting activities and sightseeing with excellent, knowledgeable guides.
This tour was exactly what I was looking for, very well paced and planned out, lots of Mayan/Aztec history to see. Comfortable walking shoes are a must. Karla, our tour leader, was excellent. Had no issues with security, always felt safe. I’d definitely recommend seeing Mexico this way. Well done again Intrepid!
Mexico was a surprise a day! Beautiful, fascinating destinations. Good variety of sites & activities. Great accommodation.
P;ease check the weather closely before departure.
Great trip: perfect to get off the classic travel path in Mexico and to get to know the country better.
The Mexico food trip was everything I thought it would be. A great guide who was felt more like a friend. If anything the trip could be longer with more days in Pueblo, probably 12 days in total. If you like food and want to see the true Mexico, this is the trip for you.
I am spending three months in Mexico and doing the Mexican Heartland tour gave me a deeper insight into the country. The towns, the history as it relates to Mexico and the exceptional guides that Intrepid uses on their tours make them a tour company that I use time and time again and can thoroughly recommend.
Comfortable trip, recommended for any age. Possibility to visit a multitude of places across Mexico, spacing from archeological sites and nature
Mexico was everything I wasn’t expecting, clean, safe, easy, interesting. Amazing colour and people!
This tour is a fantastic way to see a totally different side of Mexico and how all of the many pieces of history have combined into an exciting, unexpected, vibrant cuisine. If you’re coming for boring fajitas and margaritas – think again; what you’re going to experience is a world of much more subtlety – from moles to ceviches, smoky mezcal to rich cocoa, the bright range of incredible local fruits, and yes, even some yummy grasshoppers along the way. This is a tour for seeing and trying new things, and enjoying a culture that is varied and deep. The best thing you can bring with you is an appetite – both to eat and to learn!
Mexico was very enjoyable; our guide Jaime was fun and knowledgeable. Simple Spanish phrases are useful. Very hot and humid in July/August. Archaeological sites were interesting, sink holes and Agua Azul very welcome for swimming. Loved San Cristobel. Food excellent.
