The South East Asia trip was an amazing experience and I truly loved exploring the heart and soul of south east Asia. I feel as though you really get to see an authentic side of Asia you wouldn’t be exposed to if you travelled by yourself. You have dinner with families, visit remote villages off the beaten track and get the opportunity to talk to monks. Highlights during the trip included an overnight train from Bangkok to Chiangmai, early morning Alms with the monks, visiting an Elephant Sanctuary, a 2 day boat ride down the Mekong, cooking lessons, the beautiful sleepy Luang Prabang, the very chic Hanoi and all of Cambodia! I recommend the trip wholeheartedly. There are some parts of the trip I think you should brace yourself for, such as the overnight train in Vietnam and some very basic guest houses. However these experiences are all part of it.
It was great traveling with intrepid, trip was designed well with all the inclusions and especially the hotels used were amazing. Last but not the least Wasin make it a great experience
Our slow boat along the Mekong was amazing, great scenery, food and so peaceful. Luang Prabang was a great, enjoyed the main street and French architecture.
A great trip. Luang Prabang in Laos was my favourite and of course the elephants in Chiang Mai
Intrepid tours bring travelers right into the heart of a country and it’s people while actively practicing responsible tourism. These tours get up close and personal with the things, people and places travelers want to see and experience. Great for the adventurous.

This was my first trip travelling solo.It was an amazing experience I will never forget. The group size was just right. Our guide Chris was fantastic.Everything was well organised.I can’t wait for my next adventure with Intrepid. Thanks for an unforgettable time!.
This is a “little bit of everything” tour. You are busy and taken to many interesting sights. There are also some days “off” so you can pursue your passions. Don’t miss the caves, or swimming under the waterfalls.
This trip is good for getting to know the essential of the northern regions of those two beautiful countries. It doesn’t include a lot of active days and is overall more relaxed, but it’s great to enjoy the beautiful sceneries, landscapes and towns.
Enjoyed every minute, specially the two day boat trip down the Mekong. Eight fellow travellers from 5 different countries was the perfect group. Lots of fun and laughter
The Thailand and Laos adventure is an wonderfull opportunity to explore local travelling in the 2 countries. Can recommend this trip!

This was a fantastic trip, the activities were varied, the people were extremely friendly, the insight into the culture was interesting, the towns and sights visited were great, the food was different and often delicious and our tour leader was fabulous. I would definitively recommend this trip.
Fantastic guides, environmetally responsible travel and lots of fun!
Trust your experience n have our guide !!!!
I have already recommend. Wild Sarawak and Best of Borneo tours to other members of this group. Both EXCELLENT tours.
Expect to be amazed.. Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia are four of the most amazing places I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting, and this Trip had me re-visiting Vietnam for a 2nd time. Every time I’ve visited this region I’ve come away feeling energized and Inspired by the people I’ve met and the things I’ve seen, so…. Yeah, expected to be amazed. And expect to have your preconceptions blown. These places may have dark streaks in their history but the people and places are bright and beautiful.
Well organise ! Always with lots of fun & Adventures..!
The second time we’ve used Intrepid Travel and we’ve not been disappointed. Great itineraries and fabulous tour guides, but still with the freedom to do your thing as you wish.
Let Intrepid surprise you with the beauty of Asia!
13 days, two countries, seven towns, one river. Watching the sun rise from sleeper train, Thai cooking classes, elephant sanctuary. Crispy pork, mango & sticky rice. Lady boy shows. Cold Lao beer at the end of the day. The two-day slow boat down the Mekong River and mini-van journey through the Phou phieng far mountains was a highlight. Damrong and Somkhit ensured that the experience surpassed expectations.
I think it’s the right number
This was a great way to experience some new things in Thailand and provided a great overview of Laos and it’s culture. The river cruise was a surprising highlight of the trip and provided two days of relaxation and breathtaking scenery.
Pack less and take more money!
adventure with no stress, great safe food, nice leaders, always feeling safe and sound, happy to comeback any time, thanks intrepid, very good!!!
We would recommend this trip to anyone who has an interest in Asia, along with the Vietnam and Cambodia extensions. The history, information imparted to us and the approachability of the tour guides made this an unforgettable adventure.
This was our first time using Intrepid and we really didn’t know what to expect. However, this trip went above and beyond our expectations! We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the trip and will certainly he booking with them again. One of our highlights of the trip was how much local knowledge we were given and how much we integrated with the local people. Our leader Katie was amazing!! She really made us feel at ease and her enthusiasm was felt by all. I would highly recommend Intrepid for travelers of all ages.
Thailand was a great experience, particularly Norther Thailand where we hadn’t been before and the train trip is a must! The two day boat trip down the Mekong was a highlight for the village and river life, the ability to relax , enjoy the culture and history, and the food was excellent thanks to the Captain’s wife. Laos was an undiscovered delight with each place having it’s own different charistics and charm.
An excellent trip to give you interesting insights into thai and Lao culture.
Excellent way to see Thailand and Laos in a couple of weeks! The boat journey (and its food) was a highlight and laos in general! There was not a lot of travel days compared to some trips, so it felt as if you got more days worth for your money! Luang Prabang was especially good, however don’t expect too much from Laos as it is very tame compared to Thailand! No fitness required but be prepared for early starts!
The tour was very well organised. We felt save at any time and had a lot of fun with our tourmates. We saw a lot of temples and I very much enjoyed the thai cooking class. When in Thailand (Chang Mai), don’t miss the “Elefant nature park” . It’s a once in a lifetime experience.
First of all you do not need a back pack! Do not worry about the money, even in the middle of nowhere there are ATMs ( in English). Take light weight clothes and get some temple trousers at the night market. Laundry is incredibly cheap as little as £1 a kilo. Go with an open mind and enjoy!
Intrepid was awesome really easy to travel with. We had an amazing tour leader Arjan ! And she knew everything! We will definitely be traveling with intrepid again.
