Kirgisistan

This was a really good introduction to Kazakhstan and would definitely return to explore further.

I have tried to give feed back on my last two trips and cannot get the chance to tell how good our guides have been.

The Great Silk Road Adventure is a wonderful experience packed journey from Beijing to Bukhara. We covered many of the wonderful historic sites and also gained an insight into the living conditions in China (east and west), Kzyrgzustan and Uzbekistan. Highlights include the wonderful mountain pastures of Kzyrgustan and the historic sites at Xian, Dunhuang, Samarkand and Bukhara.

Managed to see not only a manned space launch but caught a glimpse of a cargo launch the day before. Tour leader Nazira, made sure everything was well organised & travel schedule changes out of Intrepid’s control actually worked in our favour. Would have liked a little more time to be able to explore by yourself, but the schedule didn’t allow for his at times. Tips: 1. There an ATM for rubles next to the Baikonur hotel which you need at the cosmodrome & shops in Baikonur (you need cash), some other ATM only dispense tenge. 2. in respect of the city bus tour in Baikonur, sit on the right hand side of the bus.

Yes – this trip features some very long driving days, basic accommodation, simple food and questionable facilities (depending on your squatting skills) … but it also features some amazing views and surroundings, that will simply leave you stunned.

The Silk Road is a fascinating and underrated part of our world. The trip included so much diversity of cultures. The food was excellent. The people extremely friendly. It was a varied and stimulating trip that I highly recommend to those with an adventurous spirit.

Huge mountains, fantastic scenery, kind people in the country villages. Repetitive food but tasty. Facilities are as explained in the trip notes…. Basic but perfectly adequate.

Loved my trip! Guide Nazira was outstanding. Enjoyed the balance between new and old and insight into culture and customs. I loved every minute, but it is not a tour for those with an aversion to wind, dust, squat toilets, long hours of travel and unusual foods — horse meat and camel’s milk ice cream anyone? Totally recommend if you are a truly intrepid traveller.

Uzbekistan has been fabulously interesting country with so many layers of history. It is very safe and the people are so friendly and very proud of their country; go visit here before it becomes fully developed.

This is not a review. It is a comment for the company. The very long day spent travelling over appalling roads to Arkyt was not worth it. We had three very long days in the bus prior. Much better to spend an additional night at Osh. It seems obvious.

If you love mountains and barren landscapes this is the place to go! Expect long drives and very basic accommodation but you will be rewarded with fantastic landscapes and meet very friendly locals.

Exciting and enjoyable trip with like minded group members which covered a lot of ground in a short time and made me feel I had gained an initial acquaintance with central asia.

Even if you know nothing about Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, go there. They are both totally different places and you will be amazed, every day, by the things you see, the activities you do and the people you meet. Fascinating places and wonderful people.

Our trip across China was an adventure every day. We experienced so many facets of the diverse Chinese culture. I realize how much I have yet to learn about this huge country.

It is essential to take up all of the optional extras to gain a better view of the Silk Road and its history. A camel ride at Crescent Lake gives you the experience of the ancient travallers.

Our driver and guide were terrific. The landscape is beautiful, and we saw few other tourists. Our accommodation and service was better than I expected. However, there were long travel days on rough roads, primitive toilets, and few vegetarian food options, so this is not a trip for everyone.

Lovely contrast between wonderful mountains in Kyrgystan and wonderful history and culture in Uzbekistan. Great opportunity to visit places and people before they will surely become discovered by the global tourist industry.
