1. Gepardenjagd
Was Du in Kenia unbedingt probieren solltest

Gorillas and Game Parks certainly delivered on the wildlife experience; we have had many memorable encounters. The tour is suitable for people of varying ages, but some camps are very basic with the bathroom facilities. Their are also some long days in the truck traveling between destinations, but the opportunity to see daily life along the roadside, stunning scenery and the conviviality of fellow travelers makes up for that.
My trip from Capetown to Nairobi was nothing short of amazing, so great that I extended my trip along the way. Each place was extremely different and each one fascinating and amazing. Nashy, Dan and Wambua are the dream team of crew and anyone who gets them are super lucky.
Intrepid could improve this trip with better organization, having to buy water wasted too much time, no storage so bottles rolled around and split, it seems Inyrepid are being cheap and too smart
I really enjoyed this trip, lots of amazing scenery and a chance to see lots of wildlife. Word of warning, be prepared for bumpy roads. However the bumpy roads are worth it.
This trip really hi lights the diversity of Eastern Africa taking you through cities and small towns , vast Savannahs, and lush tropical areas. It provides the unique opportunity to interact with friendly locals while simultaneously viewing endangered animals thriving in their natural habitats.
Wonderful group of people with great age range. Intrepid trip staff were fab! Be prepared for very long drives on truck.
This trip includes a lot of driving time but its so worth it when you get to see all the animals and learn about the places you are passing by along the way to get to them.
This trip will not disappoint, what a fantastic experience we’ve had!
Amazing trip- saw all the big five animals. Be prepared for very long, very dusty days in the bus- there will be more bus time than you realise- but it’s the best way to see the country, so enjoy it!
Wonderful group of people with great age range. Intrepid trip staff were fab! Be prepared for very long drives on truck.
I did this trip in June 2018 and can recommend it. We saw lots and lots of animals and amazing scenery. The Kenyan people are friendly and very hospitable, from the small children who wave and smile at you as you travel by to the staff who look after you. However be prepared for bumpy rides and bad roads. And make sure you carry cash, just in case the eftpos machines aren’t working. Our guide Gilbert taught us a saying on day one ‘TIA’ which means ‘this is Africa’, so you need to be flexible and not expect everything to be the same as it is at home.
Amazing trip, was blown away by the good organization and excellent itinerary!! The food was exceptional for a camping trip! Thank you for wonderful memories!!
Experience raw Africa. Meet locals. Have the time of your life on Gameparks drives, see natural wonders and be humbled in the presence of Gorillas. Intrepid travel is a must do for the adventurous traveller.
This trip was incredible! I had the most amazing time with my best friend. Getting to visit some spectacular places with every country different. Eating the yummiest food. Meeting amazing people, friends for life. The crew were the best, all extremely hard working and terrific at their jobs. They worked around the clock to make sure our trip was the best it could be. The company should be proud of them all.
Intrepid’s tours are so well organised, and their local teams are great. I knew I was in safe hands, the itinerary was excellent and I can’t wait to book my next trip with Intrepid.
A fantastic way to see East Africa. The trip is so well organised and allows you to experience amazing moments such as being with the Gorillas, game drives in the Masai Mara and enjoying the beautiful scenery. The crew (leader, Cook and driver) were exceptional and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed the trip. The trip notes cover all details so make sure you read them carefully. I had an amazing time and would recommend this trip!
Be ready for a trip of a lifetime Leave the 5 star hotel for a 1000000 star tent 🙂
Good Trip, Long days but worth the travel. Bring USD… you will save money. Bring something to keep your self occupied for the drives. Sleeping mats where provided but if i could go back, I would try to bring an extra one as well. Its camping… so don’t always expect hot water and wifi…
Loved Intrepid Travel. I love that they hire local crews with local knowledge. Their guides are super intelligent and confident in local customs and interactions. I love that they purchase local produce to provide great meals from a camp kitchen. I love that they actively promote responsible tourism and discourage anything considered not good for the local community/environment. I loved that you get a raw experience – down and dirty with the locals and environment. I love that they have great attention to hygiene & health and that they actively support and give back to local communities.
This trip is amazing an excellent for a proper Tanzania and Safari experience. The travel is long but does offer the opportunity to see a lot of landscapes, visit towns and villages and mix with people if desired. The safari side of it is incredible with so much to see, the camping is easy and comfortable and really adds to the experience of being a visitor in the animal world, as it should be. The staff were fantastic and keeping organised and making you feel safe.
Make sure you read every detail of your trip notes & use a local agent so you can speak with them face to face.
Kenya Wildlife Safari was an excellent way to see parts of Kenya that usually would be passed, it was such a wonderful trip and the intinerary was brilliant would recommend highly to anyone that wants to see Kenya and a huge level of animals including the Big 5
Great trip. If you choose this trip you will be pleasantly surprised by the camping locations and the completely immersive experience with the wildlife.
Overall I loved this first half of the Masai Heartlands tour more than the second half. I enjoyed that there was more local interactions and that there seemed to be less driving during this part. This part also had more activities such as game walk, boat ride and cultural talks. The crew were fantastic and the food was great.
You are in very capable hands with Intrepid: Don’t think about it, do it!
This was a fantastic tour, I loved every part of it. The animals were amazing, the scenery was spectacular and the intrepid crew were awesome. This being my first group tour I would highly recommend it. The only downside was being a combo trip and the doubling back to Nairobi in between.
We had an excellent safari experience from beginning to end. We loved the itinerary and the high quality of Tanzania’s national parks.
Great experience all round and thoroughly loved the gorilla experience!!
Amazing trip that allowed exposure to wildlife up close and the ability to learn a lot about the culture. Lots of activities to do that made it a really enjoyable trip.
This trip provided great opportunities to see the wildlife up close however didnt have a lot of other activities or opportunities to learn about the culture
LOVED this trip! Be prepared for long travel days and always being on the go… but you will have the time of your life! And if you are an in shape, avid hiker/outdoor enthusiast, do the optional Mt. Sabinyo hike in Kisoro, you won’t be sorry!
Incredible tour and great guides. Worth every penny! Intrepid are a great company to travel with and cater for everyone. We had all ages on our tour and they made sure everyone was happy and comfortable. We cant wait to travel again with Intrepid
A fantastic trip with lots of wildlife and culture. Some long drives and basic camping facilities but these are fully compensated by the breathtaking scenery and incredible wildlife. Superb local guides made our trip unforgettable.
If anyone is looking to travel in Africa this trip was my favourite part. A perfect blend of people, scenery and animals.
This was an intense and incredible journey, the most amazing places, animals and people. The lion pride enjoying their meal, the lone leopard with his catch up a tree and the cheetah just passing by, Masai people in their beads and red blankets. Our leader giving us the most amazing background, the crew were fabulous and I’ve met friends for life in our fellow passengers.
One unforgettable trip of a lifetime! The Gorillas were out of this world! The hot air balloon over Masi Mara was also sensational!!. Seeing the animals in their natural habitats and getting involved with the locals made this trip amzing! We also had the best crew you could ask for. One tip, get an East Africa Tour no matter what it saves you money and time especially if you choose to go explore Rwanda on your free day (I highly recommend) when in Kisoro.
On this trip you will get the perfect mixture of african wildlife and african cultures. Every day is a highlight!
If you want to se the amazing wildlife of the Serengeti and the breathtaking scenery of the Ngorongoro Crater you are right on this trip!
Great trip. Great views. The creator was freezing in June so pack warm clothing!
A greayp company to travel with and one with a social, environmental conscience. Very well organiz d but be prepared for some very long travel days.
This trip was an adventure from start to finish. East Africa is my new favourite destination filled with warm and welcoming people and jaw dropping wildlife. Our guide Edwin was delightful and full of laughs. It would not have been the same enjoyable experience without him.
Such a wonderful introductory trip to Africa. There was a highlight everyday, some long bus days, not a lot of downtime and things don’t always go to plan, but I would highly recommend it for anyone who has just 2-3 weeks to travel. The Gorilla trek was mind-blowing, the balloon flight over the Massai Mara is worth every cent and a side trip to Rwanda from Kisoro is a must do!
Awesome animals and scenery, a lot of driving hours
The Serengeti Trail with Intrepid is a life changing experience. It provides opportunities to explore, see new sites, immerse in experiences and make new friends. There is nothing like waking up with a giraffe munching on acacia leaves near your campsite and hearing the hyenas cry at night.
Intrepid has the best trips!
Gorilla’s and Game Parks was an amazing trip. Getting to see the gorilla’s up close and in person in their natural habitat was a once in a lifetime experience. My group also got to see all of the big 5 and every other African animal that I can think of on our game drives. The leader of our group and all of the other staff on tour were exceptional and went out of their way to make our experience what it was.
Great Trip! High intensity so for those looking for a relaxing time, this is not for you. However for those of you that don’t mind an upbeat tempo this trip is amazing. You see you so much and experience even more! High recommend.
Excellent trip
A busy and tiring trip but worth all of it! Long drives as per the trip notes but seeing the gorillas and wildlife was amazing!
Pack lightly always carry toilet paper hand sanitizer and wipes don’t sweat the small stuff enjoy new adventures embrace new friendships carry local currency
Great trip for seeing African wild animals and African culture.
Gorrillas are awesome!
If you take the two trips back to back, the food/menu is exactly the same. I have traveled a lot in Africa, and this was the poorest food.
this trip is amazing if you know what to expect and read your tip notes and pack well ! you get out of this trip what you also put in . the team are amazing and could not have asked for a better tour leader , cook and driver . early morning starts and putting tents up and down everyday does take its toll , but all part of it and you can upgrade sometimes if you want to ! i will be booking my next trip very soon . my only negative would be to have a day off halfway through the trip and maybe just stay somehwere for a day with pool and bar to all just relax and socialse before the next long drive
If you like to eat a particular time, this trip is not for you. Lunch is from 11:30 to 5. Dinner from 6 to 12 and one night not at all. Room upgrades are usually available. The game on the trip was over the to as was the guide.
This was a bucket list trip for me and I was not disappointed other than my own level of fitness on the Gorilla Trek day itself. It was my first Intrepid trip and the friendship in the group and its leaders made it a huge success,
What a great trip! We ready for a great adventure!
Intrepid is about responsible travel. If you want to be prepared for your experience, read the trip notes! They are incredibly useful.
Everything in the trip notes for this trip is accurate, long days on the truck, helping with food prep and clean up, putting tents up and down everyday – but completely worth it! The whole trip is amazing, with so much to see. Our crew was fabulous – Jacob, Chris and Sylvia – nothing was ever a problem for them. The trek to the gorillas was tricky but so rewarding. Take the day trip to Rwanda if offered, beautiful place. You will come home tired but very very happy!
Get real about whether the trip you are looking at is realistic for you…..Africa is Africa not Europe or the USA India is India ….. Keep it simple go lightly on the planet Be prepared to give rather than take Its not about the money you have or have paid its about creating and experiencing relationships with other people in other cultures Do this and you will have a blast Having just done unforgettable India and game parks, gorillas and beaches…wow just do it and be prepared to be flexible and open minded….. just a wonderfull… a full of wonder experience!!
This is a great trip to see Africa and the gorilla. There were long drive days given the distance we need to cover, but the truck is relatively comfortable, unless it’s a full group.
If you’re on a budget and want to see some of Kenya’s incredible animals, its people and culture – then this trip is perfect. One of the best weeks of my life.
Do read all of the trip notes well in advance of travelling and packing, so that you arrived well prepared. Consider travelling light.
First tour group and what an experience. Chris and Sam driving skills kept us safe, Silvia and Edwin kept us well fed and Jacob our tour leader ensured everything ran smoothly, the Intrepid crew made this trip very special. I couldnt highly recommend this trip enough and if youre considering it, just do it! Well managed and organised trip, jammed packed with adventures and loved every moment.
This was some of the best 2 and a bit weeks of my whole life. The tour was amazing and the animals were out of this world. Wish I could have stayed longer and will 100% looking to do more Africa trips with Intrepid. Gorillas, chimps, hippos, lions and everything else was just incredible.
An absolutely mind blowing trip!! I went in low season so the weather could have been awful but we were really lucky! The wildlife was a little harder to find but we still saw so much! The hot air balloon is so worth it if you can afford it. The nights in low season can be quite cold so it is good to have a warm jumper or coat and definitely dont forget the big spray! The roads can be really bumpy so back issues may be affected, especially when sleeping on a thin mattress on the ground. Dont expect luxury, but this is all part of the adventure and experience.
What an experience! The first couple of days are long drives, but so worth it once you get to the Serengeti. We left no stone unturned as we explored and experienced Tanzania.
Amazing experience especially the time in the maasai village and mixing with the local men and women..the children were gorgeous too
Amazing trip and staff would recommend to anyone, already looking into my next trip
Very professionell very friendly guide we had. We enjoyed Our trip to Afrika and sein the big five and have a great and lovely time with Our guide John Njiriri. Thank you for this great experience
A great experience! Highly recommended. Travellers should ensure they know about the trip and what is expected, thus makes the journey easier for everyone. Kenya should be on everyones bucket list!
This trip was a great experience, I really enjoyed it. Not only for everything you learnt about the culture of the place you visit but also for the great experience of living and sharing experiences with the locals. I really recommend doing these kind of trips, to meet people from other countries and learn about locals.
This is a great trip to have a real experience of the Kenyan culture and wildlife. Its a great way to socialize with like minded people and to share these experiences with. The options to upgrade from camping are worthwhile if you become tired of camping. Overall I fully recommend this trip, I had a great time!
I’m very impressed with how well organised everything is. The guides are friendly and knowledgeable. I was happy that the trips offered gave me access to see so much, which would have been hard to do on my own.
We loved everything about the trip, travelling in rainy season can be a risk but it paid off, we saw so much wildlife and 4 of the big 5 on our first game drive! The Serengeti is stunning but the highlight was the crater, so much wildlife in a small space, amazing. To me, camping in Africa is the best way to experience it, you can’t get any closer to the wildlife than staying in a tent. You have to be prepared for long hours on the road, I loved it though as it gives you the chance to see the changing landscapes and local life close up. This trip is a must for everyone who comes to Africa for its wildlife
Intrepid tours are unique in that thy allow to engage with local culture as well as experience the best the particular country has to offer. So far all guides we have had have been excellent.
If you want to experience it all, do the camping trips. Yes it was sometimes a bit challenging getting off the truck and setting up your own tent etc. But the camadrae that you formed with your crew and fellow travelers was the best. You didnt just head off to a hotel room but spent time helping each other, doing the chores together etc Im going back for more.
This is a great trip, and an incredible adventure! The wildlife – from Ngorogoro Crater to the Serengeti, you will not be left disappointed. The natural wonders – the crystal blue water of Zanzibar to the sea of grass that is the Serengeti National Park, there is so much to see and do. 10 days just isn’t enough to experience it all and get to know the beautiful locals. (And if you get Mambo as your Intrepid tour guide, you’ve hit the jackpot!)
Intrepid provide an amazing experience. Everything from the tour guide and crew, transportation, accommodation and excursions were fantastic. There was so much to learn, see and do, never a dull moment. Come with an open mind and 3 memory cards to capture all the beautiful memories!
Amazing trip. Such a beautiful part of the world, and so many animals! There were elephants in our campsite at night and lions standing next to our car. It’s not luxurious (be prepared for dirt roads and dodgy toilets), but it’s relaxed, friendly, and an experience I will never forget.
The basic Kenya trip was excellent however the parks in Tanzania had limited toilets for the number of other tourists and us to use, They were disgusting
The basic Kenya trip was excellent however the parks in Tanzania had limited toilets for the number of other tourists and us to use, They were disgusting
We saw many animals, including the big 5. Meeting the Masaai people was the highlight for us in Loita Hills & we took so many photos of beautiful birds at Lake Naivasha, Hell’s Gate NP had interesting landscapes. Then the unforgettable Serengeti NP where we saw lions mating, 5 cheetahs playing. But the best yet was at Ngorongoro Crater where we saw so much actions, lots of lions with their playful cubs, hippos having biting match on the bank, a magnificent male lion sat on the side of the road suddenly stood up 2 meters from us so we had a perfect shot of him, a leopard on the tree, miles & miles of wildebeest, Buffaloes moving at a distance then approaching closer & closer. There’s also zebras. Be sure to take a picture of zebras against the African sunrise as one of our fellow traveler did. What a picture!
Kenya, especially with a guide like Darlene, is an experience not to be missed. The diversity, landscape, animals, culture and so much more…. Am looking forward to doing it all again 🙂
all I can add is it was great to hear Lions roar and Hyenas cry out in the middle of the night.
Great trip numbers and fabulous team of driver, cook and guide.
My Kenyan safari in the Masai Mara was everything I dreamed of and more. I was captivated by the animals that I was lucky enough to see; and mesmerised by the beautiful scenery of Kenya. I met wonderful people who shared my adventure and it was a trip that I will never forget. I would thoroughly recommend Intrepid to anyone; it was a fantastic experience and I found it difficult to leave. Kenya is a beautiful country that I will definitely visit again.
A Fantastic week form start to finish. Everyday was was full and enriching and great for both the children and the adults.
Africa is such a beautiful place and offers a rich cultural and wildlife experience. I felt very safe doing it with intrepid.
The quality of this trip largely depends on the quality of your group. Long travel days and daily drives on the truck means you spend a lot of time with your group. Apart from that it’s well worth your time.
I love traveling with Intrepid. My experience is all the richer, my eyes are opened further and my journey stays with me forever. This is all thanks to the passionate and knowledgeable local tour guides, the amazing support crew, engaging in and supporting local communities and projects and continuing Intrepid’s message to focus on environmentally friendly, sustainable travel leaving a positive impact.
It was great trip to Africa. To those who don’t want to put too much energy to do their own research work, better simply go with Intrepid Travel, which could save you in whatever time, energy and monetary. Strong recommend!
The best experience of my life, made up with the amazing wild life, the friendly diverse group we had and the wonderful leadership from Edwin
Be prepared for some corrugated roads. But it’s worth it.
Intrepid is a reasonable and responsible way to travel the world . You’ll meet like minded people, who love to travel. Even though all your needs are catered for ,you still have lots of interaction. You always see the best of each country.
Great trip, but I would advise against taking the Serengeti leg if sitting in a vehicle for long periods of time is not good for you. We got a worse vehicle on that second leg and we were all much more uncomfortable.
The value that you get for the money is really good. It’s nice to travel with so many people and get to know them.
This was definitely one of the best trips I’ve ever done. Kenya is an amazing country, the game viewing was incredible and the Masai Mara such a beautiful place, but what made this trip so special is all the local people I was lucky to meet, particularly the Masai community in Loita Plains where Hellen, the most inspiring person I’ve ever met, helps rescue young girls from f.g.m. and early marriage. This was an unplanned stop on our itinerary because of the rain, but I definitely think Intrepid should include it in all their future trips to this area.
We did the Massai Heartlands trip and had one of the best adventures we could have ever imagined. The amount of animals seen was astounding. Quite a bit of driving and not much free time but I would highly recommend! If you are lucky enough to get our guide Martin Maina you will not be disappointed!!
Additional trips are slightly over priced for what they are and room upgrades very variable. However an amazing experience!!
The trip gave us so much more than expected. Africa is an incredibly diverse and interesting place that is so much more than just the animals. We loved the village walks, the game drives and the gorilla trek.
Intrepid looked after us satisfactorily throughout the entire time we were on this trip. We saw an amazing range of animals. Some were extremely close. Food was good at each of the camps / hotels. Ensure that get visa into Tanzania before trip to avoid delays at border.
The Kenyan Family Tour was incredible, it was everything we hoped it would be & more. Travelling with children can sometimes be tricky but this adventure was perfect for all of us & meeting similar families to experience Kenya with, was fantastic. The Staff were local so made you feel comfortable straight away & we knew we were in good hands. Our Chef was wonderful & to his credit we all remained in good health through his high standards. The wildlife was clearly a highlight & gave us memories to treasure together forever. Experiencing local cultures gave us an opportunity to show our children how others live & having them interact with other families on tour has been invaluable. Thanks Intrepid, we can’t wait to do another holiday with you soon.
This trip was a great introduction for the Family to Kenya. The trip was full of adventure, animals and new experiences with a good balance of culture and wildlife. Our girls were shattered by the end of it but described it as the “best holiday ever”.
Exceptional staff, knowledgeable friendly with a spirit of adventure theme throughout the tour … intrepid by name Intrepid by nature !
Great trip that met expectations. Got to see the top 5 and more. The accommodation was great, as well as the food. We were looked after all the way and kept abreast of what was happening.
A great short trip combining fanstastic wildlife and great scenery all neatly packaged into a single week, with a respectable level of comfort and facilities
Great trip, saw loads of animals in several different parks. Evening with Masai Chief will never be forgotten in our family.
Discovering Tanzania with Intrepid was everything I imagined and more! The Usumbara Mountains were a real unexpected highlight and the Ngorongoro crater and Serengeti an unforgettable experience. This incredible scenary and the smiles and shouts of “Jambo” from the local kids when passing through the villages is going to stay with me for a long time.
The Kenya family trip is an ideal trip for parents wishing to give their children a chance to see Africas animals in differing enviroment in a relativeley short space of time. Also to experience camping and meeting a different culture.
The experienced crew, the local communities, the hum of Africa and the wildlife filled us with pure amazement at how awe-inspiring Tanzania truly is. The camping is easy, the ‘chores’ go quickly and when you get to the Ngorongoro Crater you will just beam. Thanks to Dan, John and Victor (our crew) for making it a trip of a life time.
This trip offers an excellent opportunity to travel through East Africa, with a very good balance of both cultural and wildlife experiences. The game drives were breath taking, with a wealth of animals to see in their natural environments. I would highly recommend the hot air balloon experience in the Serengeti which was pure magic!
Not only do you see the tourist attractions, but Intrepid also takes you into the local communities to truly experience the culture, food, and welcoming local people.
Perfect trip – it went by in the blink of an eye. Itinerary was well planned, staff was excellent. 5/5 stars!
