If you want to experience the delights of Israeli, Palestinian and Jordanian hospitality and cuisine, learn more about the complexities of the political situation in the middle east, explore the historic ruins at Petra and pretend to be Lawrence of Arabia while you sleep under the stars in the Wadi Rum desert, then this is the trip for you. A truly memorable feast for all the senses!
Really interesting tour of the Holy Land, I learnt a lot about the history and culture of the area. The first couple of days involve a lot of walking, but it does get easier after that! Going in July was tougher because of the heat, but it does mean the queues for the sites are much shorter. Overall, a great experience, I’d highly recommend it for anyone who is curious about this part of the world.
I think Intrepid has a lot of travel opportunities for people that want more adventurous trips. One thing I would like to suggest for the walk through Wadi Rum is that it would be a good idea to have walkie talkies for the tour leader and the driver of the safety car. We had a situation in our group where we needed the safety car and it took a while before the tour leader could get the driver’s attention to come back and pick up the person having difficulty. Walkie talkies would be a fairly inexpensive way to add another level of safety for travellers.
