Very amazing trip to see a different side of Indonesia.
Elaine Smith
As first timers we thoroughly enjoyed this trip made really easy by our wonderful guide.
Leanne Newman
A lot of travel but an opportunity to see so much. Take an extra layer as the air con can drop the temperature in trains. Overall a great tour made even better by our guide Sukio and a great group.
Daniel Marshall
This trip is well worth doing and java is an amazing island to see. But be prepared for a lot of travel in this trip.
Irina Lukanowski
Indonesia is not only Bali - you have to visit Java as well to gain a better knowledge of the country. Intrepid opened our eyes!
Charlotte Goedvolk
Amazing trip, love how this trip spends a considerable time on Java, giving a chance to experience the culture. Tantan was a great group leader. Do read the trip notes: this trip involves a lot of travelling and only once do you spend more than 2 nights in the same hotel. The travel is worth it though: Mt Bromo was absolutely highlight, but also Borobudur and Seloliman were great experiences. Prambanan temple and cooking class best optional activities.

Indonesia is a tropical country. Be careful with the strong sun rays, bring proper sun screen and mosquito repellent with you. Climbing volcanoes, a good pair hiking boots is needed as well as head torch. On the top of the view point to Bromo, it was cold in the early morning. So take some warm layer, may be a sweater with you.
Elizabeth Lewis
Java was a great country to visit if you want to experience how Indonesia was before tourism became money orientated. You are able to witness the rural life of people not as fortunate as most European countries.
Den Goscombe
wouldn't choose any other company - great introduction to real life in other countries and cultures.
Sarah Boyd
Intrepid provides excellent, interesting, imaginative and informative tours for travellers at a competitive price compared to other companies I have travelled with. The activities, accommodation and friendly tour leaders help to make each trip magical and memorable. Useful trip notes about the places to be visited, local culture and the optional additional activities are fantastic. I can’t wait to start planning my next adventure with Intrepid!

Read carefully the overview & itinerary notes before your trip and pick your optional activities.
Caroline Ahlstrom
Awesome adventure.
Daniel Gray
The trip is definitely worth what you pay for, made memories That’ll last forever. But be prepared for a lot of travel! Tantan was such a fantastic guide and person, your lucky if you get him as your guide!
Sonya Sherman
A fantastic trip. Well planned itinerary with lots of variety, time to enjoy scenery and meet the locals. Bicycle ride is a highlight.
Corinne Stadelmann
Travel light!
This trip is amazing! There is so much to discover and experience. but remember: the monkeys like to steal (even your water;-))
Rebecca Kalianiotis
This trip allows you to see the hidden gems and real culture of Java and Bali. You will discover havens and tranquility in one of the most populous countries on earth. The Indonesian people are an absolute delight, so polite, friendly and welcoming. The true drawcard of Indonesia is its people.
Kenisha Adams
This is such an amazing trip! Prepare for A LOT of travelling not always in the most comfortable conditions, but also prepare to have the time of your life. The amount of activities and sightseeing is great! This trip really shows you into the life of the Indonesian people.
Keri Whitehead
If all you know about Indonesia is Bali...then consider doing the Jakarta to Ubud trip to discover more about the real Indonesia and its Javanese heartland. This fantastic trip, travelling mostly across the Java by train, provides lots of opportunities to learn about Indonesia, its history and culture, its diverse natural environments including spectacular volcanoes, beaches and nature reserves and its hopes for the future as one of Australia's near neighbours. It ends in Bali, after spending a day or so in one of the least visited parts in the west and then on to Ubud.
Claire Newell
Great trip. Take earplugs; a good book for long train journeys, and Indonesian Rupiahs, not US Dollars.
Cathy Keane
Intrepid provide a wonderful 'hands on' traveling experience. A great mix of accomodation, transport and activity types that allow you to experience the culture and customs from an holistic view. Intrepid tours are perfect for those who want to be travellers rather than 'tourists'.
Emer Oreilly
Excellent trip to gain sense of Indonesian culture and people. Be advised that some long bus trips are involved but that train journeys are some of the best quality I have ever taken in terms of comfort and punctuality.
Lynn Gail
Intrepid's attention to detail and variety in their tours keeps the mind and body active - each day a mini adventure unfolds as a new journey begins into something new - so much more enjoyable than sitting on a sunbed by a pool in a busy glossy resort!
Claudia Uhlmann
It was a very interesting trip with varied destination. If you search a trip in a country with friendly peoples and less tourists its the best.
Venise Grossmann
Intrepid Travel is the best of both worlds. It offers the convenience of group travel with plenty of free time to explore your own interests. The guides are always professional, friendly, supportive, and helpful. All of the trips I have taken with them have been excellent.
James Bowater
Leave your country of origin at home and embrace the one you are visiting. Take only photos and leave only footprints.
Justine Schneider
I had a great time travelling with Intrepid. Our group leader Maman was enthusiast, motivating and very knowledgeable. The guides were all friendly and obviously passionate about their job, which made us learn a lot about the culture. The organisation was great and accommodation above my expectations. I will definitely recommend Intrepid to my friends and travel with them again! Thank you :)
Mark Jonathan Abbott
This trip provides a varied overview of Java, with a combination of historic monuments and spectacular scenery, ending with a few relaxing days on Bali. The Indonesian rail network is very efficient in covering the distances on this spectacular and densely-populated island
Patrick Harris
What a kaleidoscope to my senses, the reality of Indonesia provided a so much richer experience than my expectations. A great mix of culture, scenery and experiences, lots of travel but also plenty of downtime.
Patrick Van Bruggen
This trip combines the best that Java has to offer and includes many interesting and fun activities. You will really get to know Java and its people, culture and wildlife. Then have a more relaxed time in Bali for a few days after that!
